Welcome all new and returning CA1, CA2, and CA3 residents, and we hope that your time will be both enjoyable and educational. As you progress in your training, this rotation takes you from the basics of giving anesthesia to caring for complex patients, diseases, and utilizing special techniques such as fiberoptic intubations and double lumen ETTs. The rotation involves exposure to all aspects of intraoperative anesthesia care for all Emory cases except cardiac and thoracic. Although we do not do OB and trauma cases, we have an active Orthotopic Liver Transplant service. During this rotation you will become familiar with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of the surgical patient. Most mornings and some afternoons educational sessions are scheduled, and your attendence is expected. Drs Helfman, Ramsay or any of the faculty can be contacted with any needs or concerns or suggestions that you may have. We are delighted to have you on our service.
