Cardiac Anesthesiology

CT Anesthesia faculty

The Cardiac Anesthesiology Division of Emory University provides anesthetic services at three facilities: Emory, Emory Midtown and Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. We provide coverage for a wide range of surgical and interventional cardiothoracic procedures. Cardiac procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, major aortic surgery, adult congenital surgery and heart failure/transplant. Coronary procedures are done both with and without cardiopulmonary bypass, and we have one of the busiest percutaneous valve programs in the country. Our busy thoracic service covers general and oncologic thoracic procedures and lung transplant, including a large volume of video-assisted thoracic procedures and esophagectomies. In addition to cardiothoracic OR coverage, we provide anesthetics for patients undergoing electrophysiology and interventional cardiology services in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. We offer a dedicated transesophageal echocardiography service for the operating room.

Our large case volume and wide variety of procedures allow us to sponsor one of the largest cardiac anesthesiology fellowship programs in the country. Each year, six fellows participate in care of these patients across the perioperative experience at each of the three facilities.
