The Crawford Long Lecture has been a special lecture every year since the early 1980s. Initially called the Frederickson lecture, in honor of support from the Frederickson family and faculty member Evan Frederickson, topics were mainly about molecular research.
Over the years, the Frederickson lecture morphed into a variety of topics, primarily due to the absence of molecular researchers in anesthesia and the change in direction of all medicine to QI and safety, and was renamed the Crawford Long Lecture.
Topics from the last few years include:
- A Look Inside the Unconscious Brain Under General Anesthesia
Emery Brown, MD, Ph.D. - Neuronal Scaffolding Proteins in Anesthesia, Analgesia & Autism
Roger A. Johns, MD - Are Anesthetics Good or Bad for the Brain?
Mervyn Maze, MD - Improving Perioperative Outcomes: My Journey Into Risk, Patient Preferences, Guidelines and Performance Measures
Lee A. Fleisher, MD - Diversity
Ozzie Harris II, JP
