Dr. Jenkins is a tenured Associate Professor and Division Chief for Anesthesiology Research.He has received numerous awards and fellowships, and serves on NIH study sections and the Editorial Boards of PLosOne and Molecular Pharmacology. He is a member of the Dean’s Faculty Development Advisory Committee and is an active teacher in Emory’s graduate schools. A recognized leader in ion channel pharmacology, his work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of anesthesia and sleepiness.

Dr. Jenkins’ research has been funded by multiple NIH research grants. Current translational research projects include high-throughput single cell electrophysiology for molecule discovery, discovery of endogenous somnogens and development of new quantitative methods for diagnosing hypersomnia disorders.
