Dr. Long is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology. He specializes in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, caring for children undergoing complex congenital heart surgery. His research is in the fields of pediatric cardiac anesthesia, pediatric regional anesthesia, and outcomes research using large databases and registries. He is an educator in the Department of Anesthesiology and enjoys teaching fellows and residents.

Dr. Long’s ongoing is research is in the efficacy and safety of regional anesthesia techniques useful for pediatric cardiac surgery.  He is also working with several large databases in pediatric anesthesia to examine safety outcomes.  He works closely with several technology committees at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to oversee the use of the electronic medical record in the organization.
